I started receiving calls from +2700 in November 2016. One call every 3-4 days. I don't, as a rule, answer calls from numbers I don't have on my phone! Now +27 is the international dialing code for South Africa. On the 2 Jan 2017, I received a call at 06:00 hrs local time. As I was expecting a call from family in the USA, I answered my phone. A loud 'click' silence for a few seconds, followed by a second 'click' and the call was terminated. I then saw that the call was from the +2700 number. I immediately noticed that the time and date setting of my phone had been altered to 24:00 hrs, 29 April 2016.
I immediately contacted the 'Fraud and Risk' department of my service provider advising them of these calls. Since then I now receive calls from the +2700 number on a daily basis. I have now changed all my passwords on my phone. A bit inconvenient but necessary. Hopefully they will go away! Bring back 'public floggings' I say!
