The phone numbers 281-295-4882 and 281-295-4886 have called my home phone 10 times in the last few days and a recorded message asks for a PIN number. If I call the number myself it is always busy. One time I typed in some random numbers to see what would happen. It gave me a number to call but I missed writing down the first digits. I believe it was either 888-426-8801 or 800-426-8801. There is no indication on the caller ID or in the message of who the call is coming from or what the PIN number is supposed to apply to. They called at the following times that were still recorded on my caller ID: 10/7/2008 7:01 PM, 10/8 6:51 and 7:22 PM, 10/9 7:26 PM, 10/10 6:53 and 6:59 and 7:06 PM, 10/11 7:26 PM. Reverse number lookup online tells me that the numbers belong to a land line in Sugar Land Texas.
This number kept calling. I finally just pressed some numbers over and over. Eventually it gave me the following number to call if I needed to get my user id and password set up or needed information. I called the number it gave 888-426-8801. I finally was able to talk to a person. It is for a company that does clinical research on people and the phone messages are a call back reminder for someone taking part in the clinical research. They said that it sounded like someone had possibly set up my telephone number improperly on their system. They would set up a ticket in their systems and get an engineer to remove my telephone number from their system. They said it would usually take a day, but could take a few to get it resolved. If this number keeps calling you I would suggest calling the 888 number above and ask them to remove you from their list. I suggested that their calling and asking for a pin number without announcing who the company is that is doing the calling and not presenting any method to stop it from happening might be illegal. I suggested that they might add some information as to what the call is about and/or even telling a number to call if this is a mistake before asking for a pin number. If you call them please mention the same ideas so that maybe they will get the idea that they are causing trouble and annoying people they are trying to get to help them with their research.
