Calls daily. Answered yesterday, they hung up. Today, guy had correct name and began spiel that he was calling for American Homeless Veterans. I told him we do not give to any phone solicitations. As I asked to be removed from their list, he hung up.
Alright, FINALLY got a live person on the other end and they addressed me by name. They called to tell me ALL ABOUT the poor sick kids needing donations in order to fulfill their last wishes. OK, First off, I KNOW there are legitimate organizations that do this like the Make a Wish Foundation, this are NOT the same group. They called themselves the Wish Network. Although they would have you believe they are affiliated or even the same group, they are in fact Telemarketers calling from a call center.
People, I am all for supporting Charities, but DO NOT give out your personal information or money to ANYONE that calls and solicits you. If ANY of your money actually goes to the Charity, it is no more than 10% of what you gave them. If you wish to make a Donation, do your research, ask questions, and then YOU CALL THE CHARITY DIRECTLY. This goes for ALL the other "Charities" that call, Shriners, 100 Club, Firefighters, none of those truly legitimate Charities Call and solicit funds, they are all Call Centers looking to make extra money by collecting information from unsuspecting persons with their terrible "sob stories," designed to tug at your heart strings. Don't fall for it.
