They use aggressive tactics claiming that they are about to prosecute you criminally and civilly, but it's just talk. Tell them you would be more than happy to go to court over it as they have absolutely no intention of doing anything but scaring you. Most cell phones are capable of recording a phone call, which despite what they say, is not illegal as long as you are one of the participants. Tell them up front, you are recording the call, they are much nicer, but still [***] you that way.
