Calls from the following area codes and numbers have all been reported to be scammers. These scammers use phony number and names to attempt to get potential victims to send in money on fake loans that appear to be from legitimate sources.
The names vary each time. These fraudsters have committed company identify theft against a Federal Credit Union.
Consumers targeted by the scam typically are looking for a payday or short term loan and search the Internet for assistance. They voluntarily place their personal information on these independent sites (not recommended) and then receive an email from one of the aliases. They say that you have been approved for a short term loan that is affiliated with companies that the scammer has no association with whatsoever.
Consumers who respond by telephone to the offer are then told that in order to receive the loan, they have to pay for either an upfront fee, taxes owed, processing fee, etc., in the form of a MoneyPak or Pre-paid credit card including Vanilla Network cards. Do not pay any upfront fees and hang up on them.
This call continue to call me this morning and I decided to answer the phone. They told me I was approved for a loan up to 10,000. I told them I did not apply but ask him to give me more information on the company. He told me he could not give me information at first and I told him how is it that he could not give me information and I was approved for a loan. He them told me to tell him if I would like to loan and once we hang up I can go on VALoans.com and get more information. I them hung up the phone and pull up the web. It is the VALoans website but please be aware that they do have listed on there website that a payday loan service is telling people that it is them and please do not give them any information.
This number has tried calling me again. I picked up just to have a little fun with them. At first he asked me what is my monthly income and that I've been approved for a $8,000 loan. I told him first off, I've asked you guys to stop calling and secondly, I have reported your number to the FTC about harrassment. Next thing you know he goes all crazy saying that he is a senior attorney and that he is calling to inform me that the cops are coming and that they are going to arrest me for an unpaid loan. Of course I kept messing with him telling him that to go right ahead and come and arrest me. But before I got off the phone with him though, I told him that he wants to scam someone, learn how to speak English first because trying to understand him made me lose 40% of my IQ.
I received a call from a guy from us cash advance, telling me I qualified for a $10,000 loan. I told him to remove my number and he called me a [***]. I started speaking Spanish and he called me a puta... I'm not making this up people!! He then proceeded to ask me how much I charged per night to sleep with him. I told him $50,000 plus 140% interest per year.. It was entertaining while it lasted but got annoying once he started calling back every time I hung up. Give these scammers a taste of their own medicine :)
I keep getting calls from this number. I told them to stop calling and the guy said "Fu&* you" then hung up. I called him back and asked for a manager but when I refused to say what for he hung up.
