This number just called me and they wouldn't talk. I called the number back and it's the Houston Chronicle Newspaper. Not sure why they are calling me or how they got my number but I told them to remove my number from their call list.
I put this as debt collector because phony was an objection! This is from "Scott Pierce" claiming to be a special investigator - from what agency he would not say. He advised that an affidavit had been filed against me and I had 24 OR 48 hours to respond (well which is it?). When I asked for proof of the supposed debt he advised that he could not send me anything but would send me a receipt when I paid. I told him I have an attorney and he could fax/mail this "affidavit" to him. Again, he said no. Uhh...I call BS! I advised him to sue me then. He said he would send someone to my work and read off the address. I advised him I would be at the front desk waiting. He asked me if I wanted to lose my job over this. I told him I want nothing more than to get fired so I can collect unemployment for a while and hung up! A-HOLE!
And on a side note...I traced the number and it is a cell phone! Loser!
Don't fall for this crap! I'm sure someone would be frightened by the "special investigator" junk but he doesn't realize I have a family of cops and I am pre-law....TRY AGAIN!
This number has popped up on my caller id several times, but i never answer. One specific occasionright aft er this person called i began to recieve calls back to back calls from a number showing up as unavailable. My sister answered and the person ask for a John. She tells him no John lives there ( true) then hangs up. Then he calls back immediatelyand asks if she knew who I was. Due to the natureof the call my sister tells him no.Then he starts asking her what her name is how old is she where she lives. She tellshim that she doesnt see how any of that is relevantseeing as which she doesnt know who he is looking for. He never states his name or who he represented. Just kept asking her questionsabout who she was and sayingshe was a liar. This reallyfreaks me out. Who is this mysteryman and what does he want? He proceededto blow up my phone calling every 5 minutes for the next couple days.then they stopped again until i saw this number on my caller id again yesterday.reading the post above puts me at ease. Last thing i need is to be scammed!

Called three times within a five hour period. The first time I answered, there was silence on the other end. The second time I stayed silent in the hopes someone would speak up, but again silence. The third time I let the answering machine catch it and no message was left.
