Just phone number came up. Said I owed 971.00 to Mervyn's. Tried to explain that I haven't had a Mervyn's acct since 2000 and it was paid off then. She said it was reactivated 2006, with balance not being paid. I tried to tell her that because I have been a victim of identity theft before I needed all information for these charges. She very rudely told me that I was being recorded, that it was an attempt to collect a debt, my social was used and I owed the money. I again stated that it was not charges made by me. I wanted copies of all charges because I wanted to turn over to the police dept. She again told me I owed this amount and I had better get an attorney because I was about to be sued. Trying to locate any info about this company. Want to turn over to Attorney General, or whomever. Plus want info on these charges. Need to get cleared up.
Threatening phone calls regarding a supposed very old debt that there is no way to verify, nasty demeanor, hollow threats about getting arrested and going to jail, actual yelling and outright insults when I refuse to send funds without proof of debt e.g. a bill. Demands that I settle now over the phone BY GIVING MY CURRENT BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION before the associated legal fees go up. Ask for a name and address of the company or a written statement, you get more yelling and statements that they don't have to send you or tell you anything because YOU are the one with the debt.
Ridiculous.
This number left an 800 number to call back on: 800-946-1002. Google it. More examples of the same type of abuse.
These people are either totally corrupt or extraordinarily bad at what they do. Either way, they wont see a dime from me until I have some written proof of an actual debt.

My son got a call at his mothers house asking if he could get a message to me!!! I have been divorced and have not spoke to my wife in about 17 years! I called the number 281-453-3889 and the recording says it is Natural Life Settlements Corporation?????
Someone from this number 281-453-3889 called my house looking for my EX-sister-in-law. My brother-in-law has been divorced from her for over 5 years. When I told them that, they said she had used us as a reference quite recently. They never said they were debt collectors, but because I had calls a few years ago involving the same relative and debt collectors, I was pretty sure that's what was going on. After I hung up, I called the number on the caller ID and they answered without giving a company name and just asked how they might direct my call. A VERY rude man answered the phone and wouldn't answer my questions about how they got my number and finally hung up on me. How can they harass relatives? I know they'll be calling back!
