Got a call on Sunday afternoon from supposedly Hewlett Packard wanting to ask me "privacy questions". (Big Red Flag) I could barley understand what she was saying. Out of suspicion and frustration I ended the call and promptly called the real HP (866-999-4747). The person I talked to spoke very well and stated they have had alot of fraud cases recently and for me to initiate a call to HP on Monday to verify my recent online laptop purchase to ensure no fraudulent activity has occurred.
Someone called claiming to be from HP. My caller ID indicated it was from Hewlet Packard 1-281-514-4740. She claimed to be confirming my order of a laptop computer that was to be shipped to another state. She repeated the last four digits of the credit card number. I said I did not order this and not to ship. She told me to report this to my credit card company. When I verified the card she indicated, Luckily, I found it was on an account I had closed.
Someone called claiming to be from HP claiming that a laptop was ordered from my credit card and recited the last four digits of my credit card. I told them that I did not order such an item and immediately called my credit card company. There WAS a charge for HP in the amount of $670.00 on my card. I opened a disputed charge claim whereupon they closed that card number then issued me a new card. I don't understand how they got my phone number & credit card number but also found other fraudulent charges through closer exam of my credit card fraud division helper. This is very disturbing.
I was working with a tech from HP for a couple of hours on a tech issue. I had to wait for a long download and I asked them to call me back after the download, installation, and I sent them an email. They called and it was the same representative from HP. This is their legitimate phone #.
Someone claiming to be Ally from HP called to verify our cardholder's address so they could ship a computer. The Caller ID showed as (281) 514-4741 Maria Chacon. I questeioned this and "Ally" got testy with me and hung up. Spoke with member THIS WAS FRAUD.
