If no one claims it in 30 days, it's yours. - - Foreign & domestic criminals spoof (fake) their caller ID & call you. They take advantage of people's curiosity. You should not call back a number that is unknown to you.
Received two phone calls in one day from this phone stating that there were criminal charges against me. It is a fake. Person did not even know my name and threatening to put a hold on my social security number. Make no sense. If there is a criminal charge I am sure I would receive a letter. DO NOT CALL this number. It is a setup.
A thickly-accented Indian voice told me his name was Eric Carter and that the IRS was placing criminal charges against me. I called back and screamed like a banshee into his voicemail.
Yes, I just got the same call! East Indian accent, I did speak with. Called himself Officer Eric Foster. Said were criminal federal charges, everything would be confiscated, etc. Had to pay $2223. RIGHT NOW as following - keep him on the phone, go to bank, take out the cash, go to gov't certified payment place (like CVS - Ha Ha!), put cash onto a GREEN DOT PREPAID VISA & give to woman Samantha Smith who'd be coming to my door tomorrow w all the documentation (no, never gave address!). I recognized as scam so kept him talking more knowing soon his temper would escalate. I said this is not how gov't works. I asked where he was calling from and he said Texas as was federal. Also gave fake badge and file no's when I asked for reference. He even had 911 - Emergency No. calling in while on phone to act as another layer of intimidation (what an abuse!)! He got ruder, louder and more aggressive culminating in him yelling, "You're nothing but a bloody [***]!!!" and he hung up. Well, we know just the use of the word 'bloody' in that context is certainly comes from elsewhere! I seldom answer calls from unknown area codes so, will make a point to stick to that practice.
