I got the same call last night. The guy on the other line was soliciting some money for some "family funds" for the patrol officers killed on duty. He said he was going to send some information and payment plan to help them with funds, etc. I just told him I don't have the budget to contribute on that and bid him a good night.
Got a call asking for funds for fallen highway patrol. Did not have correct address. Asked for a guarentee of when we would pay money. We explained that we only do contributions we have documentation on and hung up. The thing is, they scare you with the caller ID saying highway patrol.
281-580-3028 Call ID read "Highway Patrol". Scary call to get if it is not from the DPS? You would think the DPS would look into this and prohibit this type of harassmnet, especially because it breeads mistrust towards the DPS???
