Call came to a number which we only use for outgoing calls, and for years have no longer given out to anyone. Answering machine full, and we were gone. When I noticed the call from "MED CLINIC" had come in, I started to return it, thinking it might be something to do with the hours we had just spent, dealing with medical issues.
This is one of the many reasons I find it useful to actually answer -- or call back -- when I get calls from unknown sources. Naturally, I used *67 to keep them from knowing my number. Since 800Notes had no comments, but there were no search results identifying a legitimate Medical Clinic of any sort, AND a different web site suggested it might be a back brace peddler, I saw little else to do. After all, it could have been a legitimate call.
Had I not called, I could not report that this is a scam type telemarketer. Any lie, to me, makes it a scam. The lie was that, "... you or someone in your household ...." requested more information about a pain relieving back brace. No. This number is never given out to anybody, for any reason. I did not call anyone, at any time, requesting such information. Moreover, the phone is a speakerphone on my desk, so I'm pretty sure my wife never came in and used it, instead of one of the phones she usually uses. There is nobody else in our house. Not even a mouse.
The recording did give the option to press a button to opt out of any further calls. We'll see how that goes . . . . since I used #67. ;-)
Called my home phone at 1008AM. Caller ID said MED CLINIC. Recording saying it was calling me back about the back brace I have seen advertised on TV. I hung up and filed an FTC do not call complaint before leaving this post.
I had just returned from an ortho appointment for my son's sprained wrist, and received a call from Med Clinic offering to sell my braces for my pain...Medicare would pay. I wonder if they are buying phone numbers from actual providers.
