I just got a call from this number. I actually answered it for the heck of it. It was for donations for firefighters/police. It wasn't a recording. This guy had a smooth "radio type" voice, and started doing his pitch about dotation's. I just hung up.
Okay, after seeing F remark, I called it back. Said I have to dial a 1 first. Ummmm, this is my area code......so something is up with that!!!!

Just answered this call. It was a man saying he was calling about donations through the police department for burned children. It's a scam. Can't tell if it was a recording or not because it would interrupt me when I said I believe this is a scam. They ended hanging up.
Smarmy jerk calls around 8 pm with "This is John calling on behalf of firefighters and paramedics. How are you doing tonight?" I don't feel obligated to answer that question to a stranger, most likely a scammer, (okay, DEFINITELY a scammer... just checked and called back and got the "number you have dialed is not in service" recording.) I told him we don't donate over the phone to cold callers with "UNKNOWN NAME" caller ID displayed and to remove our phone number from his call list. His "response" was to be silent but to NOT break the connection (in spite of many attempts to hang up on him.)
