When I anwsered and told them that my parents were busy, the guy yelled "LISTEN!" at me. Then he handed me over to this fast talking guy who asked my name, age and just about everything else (AND I gave away NOTHING). I had no clue what they were trying to sell me, but I said NO and hung up the phone. (well tried to since my phone didn't let me hang up right away- no matter how many times I pushed the button)
Then, they tried calling me once more, but I didn't pick up. I was terrified...

Got a call from 281-760-3712 and was told by an East Indian guy that this was a courtesy call from Microsoft about my computer and the spyware & viruses it was infected with.  Smelt like a scam that went bad with the warm weather and all lately ....

Hi I got a call from this same number and east indian fellow stating the same thing he needed to remotely take over my computer now I have 6 computers (
dont ask me how that happened in a single mom family of 2?)this seemed to confuse him as I said which one is having the issue?? I even called him back 2 times and asked for his name and employee number..he said his name was allen smith..I called microsoft and my internet provider both confirmed this is indeed a scam and they need you to do things so they can completely take over your information, I also reported it to the fedral trade commision under 1 877 382 4351 ref number 31687105 any of you guys have more to add to this complaint just call them during office hours and add to the file perhaps this will nail them before they call someone like my unsuspecting dad or neibhors who are all senior citizens!! Im mad they need to do something about this...

Got a call this morning from a man with a heavy East Indian accent.  He knew my name and asked for me.  Then he said he was from Microsoft and this was a courtesy call because my computer was sending out alerts to Microsoft that it had viruses on it.  I responded that I was aware that what he was calling about was not a legitimate Microsoft call (since when does Microsoft call YOU anyway?), and to not call again.
My mother in law was taken in by this scam a couple of months ago.  She is an intelligent woman and it surprised me that she could fall for it, but she said the caller sounded very professional, friendly and helpful.  He accessed her computer remotely and installed a program that was supposed to remove the viruses. It took some time. She had to pay a couple of hundred dollars for the 'service', which she paid.  Then she had to pay several hundred more from a reputable computer store in her town, to remove whatever he installed.

My 72 year old father in Canada got a call from this number today.  The caller asked for him by name and then identified himself as someone calling from Microsoft about his computer.  When my father replied that he does not have a computer, the caller asked him "Are you sure?"  to which my father replied "Yes, I am sure.  I should know."  The caller then hung up.  Beware, this is a scam!  They remote onto your computer and steal personal information and install malware.  Do not fall for this scam.
