This number called me today for the Texas State Fraternal Order for Police. Whatever. Anyway, after receiving 2-3 calls a day for the past year from very similiar organizations, (Puppy Patrol Law Enforcement, Iraq Vets, etc) I finally called my local police department to file harassment charges. To my dismay, I learned that if they are with a supposed non-profit, the "do not call" doesn't apply. Also, I learned that they can call under all of these various organizations as long as they are giving as little as 5% to them. I finally filed a complaint with the Attorney Generals office. These people are mean. I was told I was un-American when I said no to the Vets and when I told him to stop bugging me, he yelled "STOP BUGGING ME!" and hung up on me! If you are being harassed, please file a complaint. Do it for the grandma's and grandpa's out there that finally give in just so the people will leave them alone.
Texas law says "charities" are not "telemarketers", and are allowed to make calls to donotcall numbers. Yeah, I don't like it either... I'm guessing the more charity money they collect, the more they keep. Sure sounds like a telemarket business to me.
Very rude male caller didn't even let me finish answering the phone with our standard greeting. He interrupted me both times I tried to talk, and he kept up a non-stop machine-gun approach with his call script. He talked OVER me instead of TO me, and he used high-pressure, and very rude sales tactics to verbally pressure me. He was a horrible liability to whichever police officers' foundation this verbal onslaught was carried-out for. Rude and pushy. He treated me like crap, and then pushed his sales pressure tactics on me. I feel a little like someone just beat me up.

These people operate in violation of the Texas and Federal "Do not call" laws, and bill themselves as a police charity, I believe "Fraternal Order of Police". Just enough so they can't be charged with misrepresenting themselves as real policemen or a real officer's charity. They are SCAMMERS, LIARS, and SHOULD BE HUNG UP ON AND REPORTED IMMEDIATELY. Report them to the office of the Attorney General, Texas, see your State dir for the #. The Texas AG has an office in Houston AND a toll-free Statewide number to report these scammers.
