This caller (Name Given: Amanda Bradley, WTM) is notifying individual (name provided but not clear) of an upcoming case.  Caller provides case #BD or C78128. At the end of the message you have the option to touch any number and be connected to the caller but this process does not connect you to anyone.  Hopefully the person they are trying to contact does not have a warrant on them because they are not getting the message.

I got a call from this number saying there is a civil case against me.  You can not call the number back as it is not set up to receive calls.  I have been receiving these calls for some time now and every time i block the number a few weeks later it comes from a different number.  when i search every number it shows to be a scam.

They keep calling the business where I work.  It is always a recording, stating the name of one of our employees and a case number.  This particular employee only works nights.  Like previous posters, the number cannot be dialed back to, nor does the function to speak with someone work.  This is getting out of hand.  They call several times a day and leave no way to contact them back.  How can anyone be expected to handle anything if you can't even talk to anybody?

Total scam.  You cannot be arrested for being in ordinary civil debt.   Being in debt is not a crime.  This is just an attempt to scare you into paying them something.  Ignore and block the calls.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

If they are bothering you,

Report them:

http://www.consumerfinance.gov/Complaint/#debt-collection

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection  (Threatening arrest or criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
