Yes. They manage 401Ks and IRAs from either your current employer or a previous job. They partner with a lot of businesses and non-profits to provide retirement accounts.
Of course I've heard of VALIC. If this call actually originated from VALIC, and IF they had a legitimate reason to contact me, then they would either 1) call back, or 2) leave a voicemail message, or 3) both. They did none of those, leading me to believe that this is a robocall from a scammer. It is EASY for scammers to create a FAKE CALLER ID number so that they appear to be a legitimate company when they are nothing of the kind.
