I 'm very concerned I received two calls and when I called him back he couldn't locate my phone number. When I refused to give him my name he hung up on me. I m currently going through bankruptcy. What kind of other lawyer do I need if they are talking about being arrested. I ve paid my pay day loans but they keep harrassing me about them every day I feel there's never a moment of peace . Please advise if your going through this.
Total scam. Comes out of India and Pakistan. You don't need any other attorney. Being in ordinary civil debt is not a crime and you cannot be arrested for it. Contact the bankruptcy trustee and tell him about these calls. Also, invest in a call blocker. DO NOT RETURN THE CALLS. DO NOT PICK UP ON NUMBERS YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE.
This is a common scam. The Indian or Pakistani scammers cold call people and tell them they are going to be arrested and try to scare money out of them. It's absurd on its face. What law enforcement entity calls you up and tells you you are going to be arrested? None.
You can check with your local police department about this. They will tell you it's a scam.
The scammers tend to pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community.
DON'T FALL FOR IT. Block the calls and ignore them. Make sure you tell the bankruptcy trustee what is happening.
I called my bankruptcy attorney and she told me it was a scared tactic to get money out of me. What scared me is that when he called me the caller ID said Emergency 911 and not a number that I can block.
Well, about all you can do now, is simply not pick up if you see 911 as the call back. This is just another ploy the Indian and Pakistani phone scammers are using. Ignore the calls. And don't let them bother you.
Generally a cold call from anyone with a Hindi accent is usually a scam of some sort or another. Nothing against indians and Pakistanis; that's just the world we are living in just now.
