"321-000-9876" is obviously a spoofed number for CallerID.
"Rachel" from "Cardholder Services" called again, today.
It was easy to take lots of their time:
Start making up lots of "information" for the poor sucker on the phone....
"I've got about $6700 on the card, at 24%"
"Hold on, I'm out in the barn and the card is on the dresser in the house..."
"Ooops, it slid behind the dresser.... Just a minute...."
"Ooooohh $&it. The cat must have been shut in the bedroom, away from her litter tray...."
I'm having trouble reading the digits...
"How can I tell the expiration date?".....
Then "set the hook" with false information:
4627-0519-4328-7147 (False VISA number)
0852 (False "Last 4 digits of Soc. Sec.)
97204 (False ZIP code)
July 2010 (False Expiration Date)
Having set the hook, give them the "Bank's" "800" number:
1-800-876-7060
This is NOT made up!!
They say that they are calling the bank to verify the information....
Don't expect them to stay on the line much longer, though...
That "800" number is the NATIONAL FRAUD INFORMATION CENTER.
She never called me back so that I could wish her a "nice day".
