Today, I received a phone call from this number claiming to represent the Maryland State Police Lodge for families of officers that died in the line of duty. I would not provide any information over the phone. Has anyone else recently been called by this number?
Being on the DNC list is meaningless with respect to fundraising calls for charities, even if made by paid fundraisers. There does not appear to be a restriction on Sunday calling in the Telephone Sales Rule, only the hours they may call which are 8am to 9pm.
Got a call today while in the office. Keeping along the same lines "Maryland State Police Lodge for families of officers that died in the line of duty". Told him I can't talk since I am in the office. Asked to call after work hours. Said it will only take 30 more seconds. I insisted on being busy and said call me later.
I received a call from this number on my cell yesterday at 3:56 p.m. saying he was with the MD FPO soliciting funds for wounded police officers. He stated that he would send a decal to my home and I would in turn send them money. I stated that he does not have my home address, and he offered to transfer me over to someone who would take that information. I politely declined, hung up and blocked the number.
Do not give money to these people! The fraternal order of police does not solicit for money from the public ever! Or any other so called lodge!! And I know because I am a police officer in the state of Maryland. The sticker that they sent doesn't mean anything to us. If you violate the law you will get a ticket no matter what your "sticker" is! If you want to donate to the family of fallen officers. Donate to Heroes Inc. Thank you!
