Dear "Annoyed" - the Do Not Call list is not magic - it doesn't physically prevent people/companies from calling your phone. It is a law, and like all laws, there are people who break it. I guarantee you are getting fewer calls by being on the list than you would be if you were not on the list.
Most of the worst offenders are "spammers" or "scammers", companies who flaunt the law, completely disregarding it. Personally, I don't know why they would bother - people who put their numbers on the do not call list are obviously people who don't want the call, so what are the odds they will react kindly to being called?
The advantage of the federal Do Not Call law is that if you report this call to the FCC, they can use it to bolster a case against the offender - potentially resulting in massive fines. (Much more than under the old system where an individual could sue in small claims court and win small amounts here and there.)
Got a cell phone call from this number this afternoon. It was spam or spoof. Answered and got a foreign voice, hung up immediately and entered it on my CID do-not-answer list on both my cell and the house phone. First time caller for me. And I keep records; have more than 300 numbers and IDs in a note book where I also keep track of the frequency of calls that are blocked.
Got two calls two days in a row. Called them back from my work number and the girl sounded like she was in india. Said she was with colege match. I asked her to remove my number and she said ok, but never even asked what my number was. Then I asked for a supervisor and she hung up on me. SCAM!!!!
