(301) 223-0073 is a Debt Collection Company called Asset Acceptance. They are
a debt collection company that buys old, discharged consumer debt for pennies on
the dollar and try to collect the fullamount from the debtor and includes any interest
or fees they can.
This call originates from Sparks, Maryland. The company is based in Warren, Michigan..
They have nine offices throughout the country.
If you Google Asset Acceptance, you'll see that they have been charged and/or sued
many times for illegal practices and other crimes against consumers. Real "low lifes"!
Dont understand why these people are calling. Someone keeps calling saying we owe $19.00 to an imaging service , but we have good insurance that pays 100% of test and labs. The Baptist hospital,for some reason filled with an old insurance company that we use to have 15 years ago, but we gave them all the correct info from the start and then again after we spotted the mistake,and I thought straightened this out. They keep you for over an hour, getting picture ID's and insurance cards, so I can't figure out why I am being harassed by this company BUT I feel like I will be contacting my lawyer very soon. How stupid, $19.00! This can put negative flags on my good credit because some idiot doesn't know how to use a computer properly.
I've gotten calls from this # as well (appear on my voicemail, haven't actually talked to anyone). They use 301 233 0073, 301 223 0073, who knows what other #s. If they say you owe a debt, apparently it's a Federal law that they have to send you something in writing within 5 days after the call. Do NOT admit to owing anyone anything, even if you do, over the phone; simply tell them they HAVE to send you something in writing and hang up. (and keep an eye on your credit report just in case they do try to mess with it).
