Who called from 3013264184

Keep getting calls from "representatives" of Wash. Gas, but I do not believe they are actually affiliated with Wash. Gas.  Foreign accents.  They want to talk to me about my account and my ability to "save money".

I didn't answer the phone. But I do get calls all the time from some foreign guy saying he's with Wash Gas and he can save me 10% each month, and asks for my acct number!  1. if you are with Wash Gas, wouldn't you have my acct number already? 2. only my heat is gas and my highest bill in the winter is $80.  So how much are you gonna save me each year?  $30?  No thank you!  Not worth giving my acct number to an total stranger!

I received a call from "Stephen Anthony" who, with his foreign accent, said he represented Washington Gas.  He said he could save me 10% a month on my gas bill if I used gas to heat my home.  All I needed to do was to confirm my account number with him.  As Jan H pointed out, he should already have my account number.  Secondly, he called me after 9pm which is an FCC violation.  I told him I didn't have my account number handy.  He said he'd wait as long as he needed to so that I could go find my last statement.  I told him I shred them so I didn't have it and asked him for a number that I could reach him at once I do get it.  I then hung up and looked up the number I received his call from and the call back number he gave me (888-363-4876).  A Google search of this number only returns hits in another language, presumably Chinese.  I tried calling the number and the recording on the line did not indicate a company name.

I wanted to call Washington Gas customer service but they conveniently close at 9pm.  There is nothing on their website indicating any current fraud schemes but their website also doesn't provide an obvious link to report fraud so they may not care enough to inform their customers of frauds.  I will call them tomorrow to confirm this call was in fact not from a Washington Gas representative.
