Emma Bennett called the first time today stating that she was the Investigative Dept of IRS calling to say there was a warrant against me and I was under investigation and that I should make promises of payment over the telephone if I didn't want the police to come and arrest me today.
She gave me my case number IRS-855248 and cited all the violations against me and stated that I owe IRS $7,369, she also cited all the penalties that I could face. She kept insisting that I should not speak to anyone else while I'm on the phone with them. When I asked to speak to a supervisor to ask for my options before being arrested by the police, she transferred me to another one of them (supervisor) who made sure I didn't speak to anyone else while on the phone with her. I told her to not bother sending the police to arrest me because I was heading to the police station myself after this call; but at the same time, I was dialing 911. Once she realized that I was dialing a number from another phone, she became nervous and hanged up.
Both ladies have indian accents.
This is definitely a scam because the IRS will never first contact you by phone. See irs.gov.
This is definitely a scam. If they don't reach you there is a recorded message says if you do not call back within a short time bad things will happen to you. Is definitely a foreign translation into English. The people have accents and command of English is poor.
