CID = Clarksville MD. No message left on answering machine. Usually, these calls with a town name such as Clarksville are from our friends, the Fraternal Order of Police (big time scam). these guys are getting trickier by using legitimate area codes and town names for your state which might make you more likely to answer. Thanks to reports here on this site, I know to block this one.
This number called today while I was out. My call blocker automatically blocks all robo calls and won't allow them to enter my VM to leave a message. I did see the following comment on another website:
"It's not only a telemarketer, it's an AUTOMATIC telemarketer. Not just the dialer, but the person on the line. Not a real person, but a computer programmed with responses. To test it, I did various actions: When I yelled, the response was to giggle; 30 seconds later, when I calmly said my name, the response was to give the same giggle; when I said I would not donate, the response was a canned "I know, it's tough out there"; when I said nothing, and stayed silent for about 15 seconds, there was a long pause and then the exact same phrase, tone and cadence, just saying "I know, it's tough out there". It's a computer designed to beg for money. Whether the charity it's hooked with is real or not, I don't know. While I will give to charity, I won't give to any charity that can afford to buy telephone numbers, auto dialers and computer callers."
This post didn't provide a name of the caller, but does identify it as a robo call (dialer) and robo responder. The thieving, criminal scumbags just never stop...and why should they? They know that our government nor the telecommunications conglomerates are ever going to lift a finger to stop them and put in jail where they belong.
