Called this morning at 8:37am and woke me up, fell back to sleep and they called back at 8:48am and woke me again. Answered this time so I could curse them out before blocking them....a robot call pedaling a federal program giving free cell phones to the indigent. The usual, press one to get more information or press two to be removed fom our list. Will it never end!
Appears to be a robocall telemarketing scam directed at senior citizens claiming the government is offering free cell phones to Medicare and Medicaid recipients (I'm neither). Who is being scammed is uncertain, they are probably bilking the government for inflated costs and false services. When I talked to the agent he had a NYC accent, probably coming out of some alley sweatshop call center in the Bronx.
"...free cell phones to the indigent..." No, wait a minute it's REALLY "...cell phones to Medicaid and Medicare recipients..." Well, which is it, caller(s)? Let's say I'm both - do I get 2 cell phones? Wow !! 2 FREE PHONES !! Hallelulah, I just love it so !!! First of all, NOTHING'S FREE !! Second, I'm a Medicare "recipient", and nobody told me about any free phones - nobody legitimate, that is. Geezus ! Talk about something that doesn't pass the "smell test"! This one stinks up the whole house! These callers can't even remember their spiel ! Is there ANYONE who can't see through this scam? In the words of that famous Indian chief - Chief Rain-In-The-Face "...great kukamooga !
