Called my business line 8:01pm. Computer dialed. Human asked for me by name. Fund raiser calling on behalf of MD police is about all I remember before I told her we don't contribute to charities or fund raisers. I thought she said Intel was the company, but that doesn't seem quite right.
This is the Maryland Fraternal order of Police. They are real and have locals like most unions. But.... They misrepresent themselves in my opinion. They come across like a charity with the pitch. They are not. True charities are non-profit and tax deductable. The form they mailed me after I agreed to donate a little money was marked "Non tax deductable". Something they conveniently forgot to mention. A little research will show they are a police union and can probably collect dues like all unions. Any "donations" they get may or may not go to officer's families, but I'll bet a chunk also goes to politics too. And considering the slaughter rate in Baltimore AKA "Cap-in-the-A-- City" I don't think they are doing what they say with my money. I will not give them any more.
