Got a call from 301-656-5855 on March 4, 2009. A man claimed to be from Wachovia wanted to know if I would like to receive IPO offers. He knew my name but did not give his name. When I called the number back to verify, got a fax tone. Also called the 888 number provided on Wachovia's website and asked them to verify the 301 number and the person said that number did not come up from Wachovia's listing.
I got a call from this number also, a few minutes ago. However, I did not answer it, given the number of times I've been called to tell me that "the warranty on your car is about to run out..." has exceeded my threshold of pain.
The caller from a few minutes ago didn't leave any message.
