The guy Eric Foster or something called me repeatedly and threatened me. I finally got hold of him and he sexually harassed me over the phone..... People these days.....
I called back this number and for some reason they were trying to get a hold of my Bf on my number and I told them they had the wrong number but asked what this was all about, he then said "well if this is the wrong number why do you care," I said well you are calling my number so I would like to know. He then told me to shut up three times.
A caller identifying himself as Eric from the Criminal Investigation Bureau (Asian-sounding accent so they couldn't even get an American to do the calling). Has called 3 times today and I just hang up on them. Want it stopped NOW>
Accounting firm in TN. One of our clients received multiple calls and voicemails following the script previous commenters have already described. Luckily, he called us before returning the scammer's call.
As previously stated, IRS will never contact you by phone or email without first establishing contact with you via mail. IRS will not ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone, will not demand payment, will not threaten to involve any type of law enforcement, and will always give you the opportunity to appeal.
If you know you owe taxes or think you might, call the IRS directly at 800.829.1040 - you'll be able to work out your payment options there.
If you're sure it's a scam (and calls like these definitely qualify), report the call to the Treasury Inspector General at www.tigta.gov or 800.366.4484.
You should also file a complaint with the FTC Complaint Assistant at the link below. Choose "Other" and then "Impostor Scams" and be sure to include the words "IRS telephone scam" in the notes.
Be sure to report these scams via the above means - IRS has made a concerted effort to crack down hard on these types of scams. Enough reports of a similar incident will get their attention in a big way.
A person stating he was Eric Foster with the IRS called my home phone telling me I owed the IRS. I told him I did not that I was 93 years old and owed them nothing. He called 5 times. The first time he called, before he hung up, he told me he was coming to my house the next day and bring $ 5,000 and would I XXXX XXX XXXX. I slammed the phone down. My daughter is now trying to have the call traced.
