The IRS scam is all over this board. They use lots of different numbers. The way it works, the scammer says you owe money to the IRS and the cops are on their way to arrest you right this minute. The only way to avoid arrest is to pay the overdue amount by credit card right this second. You give them your credit card number and they spend all of your money.

Just got the unwanted "scam" call purportedly from the IRS. This was supposedly a second and final attempt. I have been audited before and they do NOT contact someone via computer generated phone messaging. Never call the phone number left if it is a government agency and not a toll free number. Use a phone legitimate number and report the call to the phone company and the IRS. Sometimes I like to call the caller back just to mess with their lack of intellect but I always block my number first.
