Told me he was from the IRS and asked me if I had a lawyer. My taxes from 2008 to 2013 are being audited. He asked me if I received the letter in the mail about this. I said no and he said they would resend it and then I was to call them when I received it. Total scam!

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
I received a message on my answering machine to call the IRS at this number and a lawsuit was threatened. When I called the number, a man asked for me by my former name and when i told him my name had changed, he said that I had been called by mistake.
