They claim that they need to speak to my attorney regarding "an affidavit being uploaded against you today in the county".

Michael Kay or King, Veronica James, another woman I couldn't understand.
Several different numbers, all with the 301 area code.
Most likely a scam. Don't talk to them. Don't give them any information. They might try to threaten you with loss of driver's privileges. Which is total nonsense, or jail time which is more nonsense. I called the number out of curiosity. Background noise sounds like 3 or four people on the phone and they also sound like kitchen-table debt scammers. Possibly located in the US and working out of somebody's house. No idea where they are located.

I just got a call and was left two numbers so I will be listing them along with the number they called from. 301-579-4038, 301-830-6076, 301-547-3251..I spoke with a David, Victoria, and an Ashley Taylor telling me that they are from financial litigation and trying to get attorney information and told me that I need a criminal lawyer to settle the claim. I was informed that I have an outstanding dept with a payday loan company called Cash Central. They said that I could settle for 1,500 via western union. They also stated information to me that was false such as the state that I live in, the wrong bank name, and my email address that I used to get said loan. I made the Ashley lady mad when I told her that I would contact Cash Central before I did anything to verify the loan, so I called to do just that. I was informed of it being a scam by Cash Central. They used information to try to find me in there records but found nothing. I was wondering if someone used my name and SSN to get a loan, but that was not the case. I pray that these people can be stopped so no one gets scammed, money is too hard to come by these days!!!!!
I got the same call its a scam I called the payday loan place and they said it could be a scam so I called them back to tell them to stop calling me and the read some type of rights so I told them to send the police to my house and none showed up
I just received the same voice mail message from Michael King - identical. I had some payday loans in the past and every once in a while, someone gets a hold of that information and then calls and says I never paid it - which I did and I keep that documentation handy. Whenever I get a call like that, I just say "send it to me in writing" which they are required to do if you owe a debt. If they don't, then I don't worry about it. Except that it's extremely annoying to field these calls. I've had several different named companies and numbers (because they change their names often) and then I get a ton of calls for like 2 weeks and then they finally stop. I guess they figure if they get one out of 100 people to pay, it's worth their while.
