The phone number is part of an underground fraud/counterfeit inter-loop that is sweeping the nation, offering a variety of services, ranging from Mortgage refinancing, to car loans.
The services offered are, in short, a complete scam, waste of your time, and show the possibility of being detrimentally life changing.
The calls can come from several different numbers, including 301-882-9988, and come with a variety of different Caller ID names, which today was "Number Removal", how quaint.
The phone calls do not come from an actual corporation, in fact, they don't even come from a building, or a phone connected through a phone line. They're actually cell phones, providing easy # change, as well as certain high tech functions that include non-callback numbers (meaning, if you try to call them back, the call will not go through). Well, I happened to call back, and perhaps it was while this function was disabled (or perhaps a fluke), but I spoke with the individual behind the number. They sounded unbelievably shocked and hung up nearly immediately.
Point-in-case, they are scams, they can come from many different numbers & caller ID's, they're virtually untraceable by the public, and because the calls are coming from cell-phones, they are currently judged by a different set of laws than standard phones, meaning that the tortuous, repeated phone calls from the invisible crook may be coming for a while........
They have been calling me on my cell # just about everyday for a month trying to get me to do a mortgage refi. Funny, b/c I own a mortgage company. They start with an automated message, then if you click through you get a live attendant who want your info, then they supopsedly pass you to a broker. They wont give there address (illegal) or tell you there real name (illegal) and everytime I ask to speak with a spvr they send me to a DNC section, which does not work (b/c they continue to call). Im getting a bunch of other calls from the same company with calls from an 816 area code. I called a provider of one of these #s and they said they have "spoofed" many numbers which changes the ID. I would LOVE to take legal action. Any help?
They call me repeatedly, all day long, starting in the early morning and ending, after I have my kids in bed. They are trying to sell me an extended warrenty for my car and refuse to leave me alone. I am tired of it, cause just as Gary did, I called them and it did not work. When I got hold of a person and told her how sick of it I am, she was rude and then disconnected the line. Can somebody do something about them?
calls at almost the same time of the day and offers mortgage refinancing. Being told to remove our # off their list, they say they do then call again anyway. We've stopped picking up the phone but they have not stopped calling.
