Received a call from this number from a person claiming to be with Washington Gas with a discount for my next bills. He has my address, name and contact number, which is my cell phone. He did not have my account number and that is when I knew it was a scam.
Have been getting calls from this number for the past few weeks, each time I try to call the number back it says the number is out of service. Finally answered the call today and it was a woman claiming to be from Washington Gas, when I asked her for her name she hung up on me. Definitely a scam.

Washington Gas is advising customers to be aware of an ongoing scam that has been reported in several states. The scam claims that President Barack Obama is providing credits or applying payments to bills. This fraudulent claim is being conducted in person and through social media. In many cases, the scammers are attempting to collect social security numbers or personal, confidential information.
Please be advised that no such payments or credits exist and providing information requested may make you vulnerable to identity theft.

You are encouraged to ask for identification from anyone who visits your home and represents himself/herself as a Washington Gas employee.
Customers should only use Washington Gas' authorized methods or locations to make payments on their bills, These are available in our Billing and Payment section.
Never give out any personal, confidential information to unknown or untrusted people or organizations.
If you have any concerns, suspect you have been approached by a scammer, or have information to report regarding this fraud, please contact your local law enforcement office. In addition, you may contact Washington Gas' 24-hour security hotline at 703-750-4370 if you believe your Washington Gas account has been compromised.
