Don't bother unless your sole purpose is to waste their time to prevent them from scamming someone else. The IRS and a large number of news media outlets have released a lot of reports on this very pervasive scam being run from foreign countries.
CID "unassigned" female reading a recorded message IRS case being filed against my phone number I guess...don't say my name but I must reply immediately to 302-257-5057......BLOCKED!!!!
I got a call from the same number with the same type message. Did not address me by name just stating that IRS was filing a lawsuit and this was my final warning. Female caller said I could call 302-257-5057 to find out more information on the case file. So I called back about 10 minutes after receiving the call which was just before posting this info to this site. Call went through, no ring, then a circuit busy? I found it strange that IRS, 1) doesn't usually make phone calls warning of suits, and 2) does not address person they are trying to reach or leave message for by name.
Caller id didn't supply the number, but the recorded female voice left 302-257-5057 as a call back number. I tried it, busy signal. Seems to me if they leave a call back number they'd like you to call. So maybe they are getting lots of call backs? I'll try again. Agree that this is not the way the IRS would handle tax cases.
