Your continual calls are turning into harassment considering how often you call even when our son's loan payments are not in arrears. Please stop the constant calls immediately. My husband and son receive the monthly bill and attend to it a.s.a.p. Please note that my son is still in school and I believe he shouldn't have to begin paying back any loans until he is out of school, but that is between you, my husband, son and the U.S. and State Laws. Unfortunately, I am the one who has to deal with your calls all week long, can do not a thing about the situation, and would like the calls to cease immediately. Thank you.
Respectfully, I have to say, you have no idea what you are talking about. The amount of money students have been saddled with for even a 2 year degree is shameful. Interest and compounded interest turned into a runaway freight train with these student loans. Yep, the loans were easy to obtain and the fine print was beyond comprehension. They aren't paying because they can't. There are no jobs! (And actually Sallie Mae is not a government run institution handing our your tax money either. Its a privatized, almost predatory lender).
This number called me to harass me about a student loan at 5:10 PM on a Sunday evening. Are they really allowed to call me up while I'm eating dinner on the Sabbath to bother me about a loan that is two days late? It's ridiculous... I've never missed a payment or made a late one before and the only reason I missed this one is because their website wouldn't let me log in due to being 'down for maintenance'.
The money you were 'forced to loan'? First off, this is Sallie Mae, a PRIVATE lender. Your tax money isn't involved. Second, as an American citizen, you agree to pay taxes so that the government can distribute them for the general welfare, as decided by your representatives. General welfare includes distributing money to assist people in obtaining an education. Without these educations, this country would really, really suck to live in. If you'd like to live in a country where the general population has less than a college education, I can name a few Middle Eastern and African countries that you may prefer to America. You might feel more free there knowing that you don't have to pay as much in taxes. Then again... you might not.
Thanks man! I agree with you that student debt needs to be forgiven. In this economy, it's hurting so many of us to spend so much of our money (or worse, to not be able to afford the payments at all) on crippling student loans.
