Got a call from this number this afternoon. I let it go to voicemail. Surprisingly, it wasn't a robot call! Claimed to be a debt collector from Pioneer Credit Recovery Incorporated, but I don't have any debt. Said his name was David Parish & that the law requires them to say that it's a debt collection call. Advised me to call back 1-866-269-0779, & gave a reference number.

Not only do I not have any debt, but they never asked for anyone by name. This has to be a scam.

A Melissa called my husband's cell number. She left a message asking for him and saying it was regarding his daughter and giving a reference number and asking us to call back 888 287 4431. When my husband called back, the voicemail said it was David Parish and to leave a number. There was no company name given either time.

They called claimed they were looking for my brother.  I told them he is in prison.  She wanted to know when he got out and if I had his address.  So I told her to give me her home address and I would have my brother come visit her.  I am sure he will enjoy you.  Of course, I had no idea who they were really looking for, because the name they gave is not my brother. So they knowingly called someone they had no business with.....HARASSMENT

Pioneer has lost their contract to collect student loans due to their criminal activity:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/27/educ ... _n_6773286.html
Web page with contact information:  https://pioneercreditrecovery.com/Contact.aspx
BBB page with 200 complaints and 6 negative reviews and a government action revoking their contract and a BS statement about the revocation of that contract but somehow still gets an A+??? Pioneer is a Delaware corporation organized in December of 2001 unlike their web page that says 1980.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
