Actually Wilmington Fire Department does call each year around this time to people in the area to collect money for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for impoverished families. They also collect money to send children to shows and for winter coats for the children. Sometimes they collect for calenders as well. When they call, they do ask you how much you can do. Then they confirm your name and address and send you an envelope and form for you to fill out and send back to them.
