Caller asked for my husband by name. Asked who he was. Said from Delaware Fraternal Order of Police and started asking for donation. Told them don't do anything by phone send me in mail. Still wanted pledge on phone. I told him no that info had to be sent by mail and then will decide. He then ended the conversation so probably a scam."
did not answer, just hit Blacklist on call blocker. this is NOT the DE FOP! & btw, there is Not just one FOP in DE! this is Not a non-profit! this is some scammer using their name to get donations! dunno if any of the FOP in DE know about this. not much of any donation goes to them! 800notes.com has no designation for what they are so had to leave as Unk.
My caller ID showed an Unknown number with no message left. Therefore, that = telemarketers and or scammers. Most of these are "robo calls with spoofed numbers," so reporting them does no good. NEVER give or verify personal, credit card, bank or financial information to ANYONE who makes an unsolicited call to you!!! I "block" these numbers if they keep calling.
I gave $10.00 by personal check to the real Delaware FOP who called my number (not from this number). I checked the endorsement on the back of the check and it was the FOP. During the call, the solicitor wanted me to provide my donation by credit card. I refused and stated that the only way that I will provide a donation is by personal check upon and after receiving a mail solicitation from the DFOP. NEVER GIVE OUT A CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO A PERSON SEEKING A DONATION OVER THE PHONE!!! Never answer a number you do not recognize. Send everyone to voice mail. Check the number on the internet before you call back. 99 times out of 100, you will not call back if you do this.
