Someone with an Indian accent called me from this number for the 2nd time. Stated he was Dan Wick from Microsoft Technical Department. It was a scam. He was trying to phish personal information from me and trick into reviewing Event Log Error Reports (most "errors" here are harmess).
I really enjoy when these scammers call me. I give them quite a run for their money before I piss them off so much that they hang up on me.
I had the same happen. He said I had infected files. I ask for his phone number and he gave me the 302 21- 5254. I went ahead and called him back and I let him on into my computer and he showed me the files that had been infected with a serious virus. He said that I needed to purchase a security service from Microsoft and he would clean all of the viruses out of my files. He did that and installed the microsoft program. I payed through Pay Pal so I felt it was legit. I hope I haven't been taken for an idiot. I ask for his supervisor and he was also an indian sounding voice. I felt very uneasy about the whole thing but I am protected through Pay Pal on the money side but I am going to contact all of my credit cards and let them know so they can't charge on my accounts. I don't know what else to do. If someone out there knows please let me know. Thanks, Probably an idiot
