This person - calling himself Bill Shepard of Shepard Services, posed as an Investigator wanting to speak to the president of our company "on a legal matter". I kept putting him on hold because he was (1) so insistent, and (2) our president was not available. Being the Assistant to the President, I informed "Bill" that I was empowered to speak on her behalf. He finally said that he was part of a group of investigators and attorneys and this was a legal matter concerning this company. Once I finally did put him through to the president, he started his sales pitch to her - "Shepard Services" is just a debt collector with bullying tactics. He should be banned from ever being able to do business.
Guy asking for the owner of the company without introducing himself, i ask who is this? he says "Gary, wheres the owner?" - he was asking abt a guy who stopped 5 yrs ago so that already makes one suspicious as its evident he has done no research whatsoever.. When i tell him its a stocklistet company he wants the ceo, when i tell him he cant just talk to the ceo and i ask what its about he says: "its confidential, ill call back" - total douche rhetoric thru and thru, i feel bad ppl are working such crap jobs..
Called and asked for boss, said he was Chris with 'Slaughter and Son'. I told him that he was not available and asked to take a message but he said; "No, I'll call back". Looking at the other posts it appears as though this number goes to various companies,- or on the other hand is a multipurpose SCAM.
I also just received a call from "Chris - with Slaughter & Sons" - I have call display so my guard was up when I answered.
He asked for the owner by name - I said "He only returns phone calls - I'd be happy to take a messge" He RUDELY said "He told me to return HIS call by 11:00 - so tell him it's Chris and stop wasting my time!"
I said "That's weird - he's been out of town for a week and it's 8:30am here...nice try though"
He then proceeded to say he'd call his personal number and would be filing a complaint about me LOL
SO irritating. Does this nasty tactic actually work?
There is no way this is a debt collector FYI - - my boss has stellar credit and a business that does very well.
