Left a message with nothing but silence. I gather it was from Cisco/Webex. I had been on their website and had signed up for a trial awhile back. It's funny that this is *Cisco* but their calling center seems broken.
Man with an accent wanted to speak with an IT manager from another location. He claimed to be from WebEx and that the manager had expressed interest in their product. I said that if WebEx wanted to do business with our company, they must go through channels, and then I sent him to Purchasing.
Also got call claiming to be Cisco. I got a similar call from another number claiming to be Cisco a while ago. when I finally got in touch with the actual Cisco rep for my area, she said calls from Cisco will always show Cisco in the caller ID and will not be a cold call like this was.
I told the woman that I knew she wasn't actually with Cisco and it took her quite a while to gather herself to disagree. Whoever they say they are calling from, they are not. My guess is that this is a means of generating leads for sales companies, not an actual scam. However, I would still refuse to talk to them if I were you.
I just got a call from this number claiming to be Cisco. Asking me why I went to their website and what I was looking for and did I find it. I explained that I am on Cisco's site everyday (I am a network engineer) and that I am very familiar with Cisco products and services and if she wants to sell me anything she should go through my rep.
