Someone called me from this number to my cellphone when I was busy. I didn't hear the call come in so I didn't answer it. No message left. No idea who it was or what they wanted. When I Googled the numbered, I found one listing on another site like this one. The person said they answered because it appeared to be a local call. A man asked for the head of the household. They called person said wrong number and hung up.
Don't be fooled by area codes, people! Many phishing scammers use VoIP phones with local area codes that are difficult or impossible to trace. They are often calling from outside of your state, or even out of your country, over the internet. I know this because I used to have a VoIP box that had my old home phone number connected to it. The VoIP box can be taken almost anywhere in the world and used over almost any internet connection. It was very handy to make what looked like a call from my home, when really I was elsewhere, and I didn't get charged long distance rates or international calling rates when I called back to the US.
The scammers also often spoof (fake) the number you see on caller ID. So, caller ID can't always be trusted. Better to let all unknown calls roll to voicemail. If it's a scam, they aren't likely going to leave you a message. If they are for real, they will leave one.
