I got a call from this number and a guy named Larry started talking so fast and blurting out numbers about some debt. I tried to ask him who he was with but he shooted it so fast I couldn't understand him and he refused to repeat it. After him talking so fast for so long I wanted to get the name of his company so I could write them a letter. I interupted him again asked for the info and he shooted get a lawyer then and hung up???? Does anyone know anything about who these people are. Hagelwith or something was the name I could make out. They called a relative of mine from a 859-721-0359.
Does anyone have addresses or even a main office or these guys??????
I have a feeling they are a part of another agency of course the obvious comes to mind to tell them you are not professor dumbledorf and you will have none of their nonsense or very obvious "worth hageling???" Either way they are new players as they are not published anywhere that I can find and they are not on the Bud Hibbs website/radar. Some of the numbers given have been traced back to Illinois and Tombstone Arizona
I basically recieved the same call. She left a message giving a case number and ending with "Good luck" Again though she spoke so fast I had to listen a few times. I never returned the call, fearful of all of the scams out there.
My best friend AND my mom recieved calls from this number claiming to be Hershey and Kemp (Kenneth Sledge and Stanley Simms) they both gave some probably bogus Florida case number and told my mom:
"They said it is going before the court on Wednesday, Florida Statute 832 Section 832.08 They are going to charge you with perjury and illegal money transfering which is fraud."
They claimed I wrote a bogus check and something about a payday loan in Florida a few months after I moved out of state back in 2007, it does not make any sense.
Where the HELL to these guys get off, the F'n nerve, threatining my mom, luckily she said she was going to put it on my debit card but wanted to check with me first.
I am in Afghanistan right now but come 9 am on the east coast, I am going to call these pathetic A-holes and get to the bottom of this.
Well I talked to this Kenneth Sledge on the phone last night, what a tool. I told him that according the the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act he must provide me with 'written validation' of the debt he did not like that at all. He told me he is a mediator for "his client" and did not have to provide any documentation and he started talking about a settlement, when I refused to talk about any settlement until he provided me the documents he is LEGALLY OBLIGATED to provide me he spouted I am giving this to our lawyers and we will see you in court.
So if you are not a debt collector and you are a mediator why are you trying to get money from me and then threatening legal action....hmmm....well according to the FDCPA:
Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that: you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt; they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action.
The sort of collections thugs who prey on active military persons are lower than a parasitic microbe on a worm's anus. The softer the target the better they like it.
You are wise to proactively find the federal rights these thieves are trampling. I believe deployed personnel get special protection in debt matters, for the very reason that they have far more important worries than some stupid bill, real or imagined, that may spark a collector's accusations. I can't put my hands or brain on what those rules are just now. If you have access to some consumer law advisor, you may get a better answer.
What's worse is this bunch is crabbing about the same tired old claims of "hot checks" and payday loans, which I would bet are made of the same hot air as their illegally threatening calls. See that everything said to every person involved is carefully documented. If you find a valid US address for this rogue agency, you will have excellent fodder for a FDCPA suit and can serve them a *real* summons within a year of the first violation.
