I havent ordered anything and they continue to call me. I too do not answer unknown numbers. When they get my VM they hang up but it always sounds like a party in the background.
they asked to speak with my wife. i asked them to identify themselves. they did not want to comply. they told me she was eligible for a free $25 gift card from wal-mart.
i informed them that we were on the do-not-call registry. we have no relation to their company. therefore, their phone call is illegal. furthermore, they are required by law to identify themselves and any marketing company with which they are affiliated. they hung up.
The variations I know of are:
They ask for your credit card number to confirm you are the person they are looking for, then charge $$$$ on your account
They ask for you bank account number to confirm you are the person they are looking for, then empty your bank account.
The sign you up for some sort of shopping club that costs $$/month and bills to your credit card. It takes you months to get out of the club and in that time the fee for the club is more than the value of the card.
There may be other variations, but all end the same - you pay far more than the value of the card.
