I received a call stating that the two men were from the Law Office of Robert Shaffer. LOL. They said I received a payday loan in the amount of $3** something dollars. He said I could settle out of court w/ a payment to him. Really? I tricked him real good and said, "How much and who do I pay?" I literally could see the big smile on his face and then said, "Siiiiiiiiikkkkkeeee!" He provided me w/ my ssn, birthdate, address, and everything when he first called. 1st mistake...I work in customer service, the customer ALWAYS verifies their information to you, for security purposes. He went on to say I had a civil court hearing in Florida (I'm in GA) and stated that I would be arrested at my job, if I'm fired it's not their fault. 2nd mistake...I submitted my ssn, date of birth, but NEVER my work information/location! I then told him that I never received a summons/subpoena to court. He told me I would receive it in 2 hours (REALLY?!) He wished me luck and hung up. I called my bank, set up identity watch, and closed my account, set up a new one (w/ a new account #). They are big scammers. I do feel foolish for putting my information out like that, I was in search of help and was scammed. Valuable lesson learned!!!
I keep getting calls from this number on my cell but I've not picked up because I didn't recognize the number. Just called it back and was told that I had reached the litigation office of Robert Shaffer, is there anyway to find out without talking to these people what information they have of mine?
This is a scam what they are doing is calling people saying that they are calling because you took out a loan and you need to pay it back I keep geeting the same calls. The problem is I inquired about a payday loan just before Christmas but I never went through with it because they could not tell me what the intrest rate would be so when I declined they got really mad and started cursing me out. And to this day they call me I blocked them from my home number but I'm not sure how to block them from my cell phone. Whatever you do DON'T give them your account information or give them permission to take anything from your account. IT'S A SCAM. If you get another call ask them where is the loan from and then call that company.... Also since they are not able to get you via phone they are now sending checks out saying you wopn the lottery and once you cash it you will have to pay it back it's crazy but BE CAREFUL
They have all of your personal information. I contacted the Shafter Law Firm in Florida and it's truly a scam and the actual Law Firm has contacted the FBI, an Investigator, & file a complaint with the local Sheriff's Department along with a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission (877-382-4357) please call and file a complaint along with calling the real Shaffer Law Firm @ 904-350-1177 and they will take information don't let this company continue to scam people. Shaffer Law Firm even called this company and they were rude and ignorant and told the gentleman at the REAL law firm to go F*** himself.
I keep getting calls from this number I will block one and they call from another one...so I just started answering the phone Marion County Sheriffs Office Detective Wilson and he kept asking for me so I told him if he wants to get prosecuted and go to jail for life he would not call this number anymore...there is nothing that anyone can actually do they are callling from a VOP so when you call the number you will get a busy signal or dial tone and there is no way to trace the call...you just either have to play with them or ignore them...true they have all of you information I suggest you get LifeLock and have no worries at all...
Contact the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) 877-382-4357 and file a complaint...the more complaints maybe something can be done...I've actually contacted the law firm they claim to represent and they advised me that they have been getting alot of calls and she also told me to contact the FTC and file a complaint.
