Thanks, 'Steele', for posting this. I posted the solution below on another site. It appears to scare these scammers...
The following levels the playing field a bit:
The company behind these calls is IXE Accelerated Financial Services, and they have a toll-free number: 1-888-226-5185.
Call this number from a public (i.e., pay) phone booth to voice your concerns multiple times. They have to pay significantly (over $0.50 per call) each they pick up because they have to reimburse the pay phone company on top of their regular phone bills!
This gets their attention. Ask them to remove your number. It's gratifying to know that they have to pay more than $0.50 to hear your concerns, and that you can make them pay more if they continue to harass you.
I had a similar experience as described above. I kindly informed them that I did not have a credit card and that they were calling my cell phone and to put me on their 'do not call' list. They hung up on me.
Wow, I must have found the right board to post on. I received a call from this company yesterday and spoke with someone and asked for my name to be removed from the list, I was informed that it would take 15 business days to take my name off. I responded nope, I don't want to wait that long I am already on the Federal DNC list, I want it off now. I also asked Amanda for her phone number at work.....she didn't know it...hmmm. I TOLD her to get her supervisor. Put on hold and then I heard a maam and then a hang up.
Just received a phone call from a man claiming to be "Mark DeCosta", the caller ID mentioned that it was out of the area. BUT from doing research on the phone number that called me yesterday, I remembered some of the posts that people had stated that they were sworn at and hung up on.
I told "Mark" that I wanted his full name, got it (yeah right). Asked for the name of his company, then he asked if I would like something else.....like his.....ahem. I said no, I want the name of your company, he asked if I would like it again and that he could meet me. When I asked for his name, he asked me mine....like yeah...I am going to tell him. I volunteer with my local police department and was in the process of calling them, I told him this....then he hung up.
Recording claiming that my vehicle's warranty had expired and asking me to press 1 to speak to a warranty sales rep. I pressed 1 and asked the operator what organization this was, and she hung up on me.
The company behind these phone calls is IXE Accelerated Financial Services. The other number they have called from is 305-672-6663 which is also a disconnected number. They have a toll-free number: 1-888-226-5185. Call that number and ask for Natan or Latan, the supervisor. Make sure to let him know how you feel. When I called and asked why his company continually calls me, day after day, and I am on the DNC list, he laughed and said because he can. Make sure to mention his name after calling IXE, to the Florida State Atty Generals Office. They are VERY familiar with IXE, and did state that IXE does have a telemarketing license however, they do get constant complains about them. They also know exactly who the owners are. :D
