The person using phone number 1-305-801-0253 just tried to steal $580 from my Mom. This woman called and said she was from FPL and that my parents had a balance due from April of $29 and that her lights would be shut off Now if she didn't provide a debit or credit card to cover the charges. My mom panicked and gave her BOA checking acct. debit card, exp. date, and cvv. The woman took less than a minute to come back to the phone to say she needed another card. She said she needs a card with a MC logo. My mom tools her that the card was an MC. She said she still couldn't use it and told my mom to get another card. My mom placed her on hold to get her Chase card and then decided that something didn't sound right. She called BOA on her cell phone and was advised that her card has just been declined at Home Depot in Tampa a few minutes prior for $580. Fortunately, they don't keep large balance on that card. My mom came back to the phone and asked the woman to provide her with her FPL account number. The woman could not of course. she hung up. My mom called back. A man answered the phone and then he hung up. Apparently they have someone at Home Depot waiting to get card information to make fraudulent purchases. Maybe an employee. Anyway, the police are on the way to take a statement and FPL has reported to their fraud division and other relation government agencies. Be careful and remind your elderly loved ones not to give personal information to anyone calling on the phone. PS: I called to "speak" to the young lady and she hung up on me.
