Called, left no message. Caller ID said Marathon, Florida. Suffice to say, I don't know anyone there, and if they don't leave a message, how important can the call possibly be?
First of all, if you are on the Do Not Call Registry, you shouldn't be receiving this call. Telemarketing calls are illegal. Period. The likelyhood that your number is taken off the list is slim to none.
Telemarketing scams are the new email spam. Plus, telemarketing scams are on the rise. Telemarketing scams work because people don't suspect that they are being scammed. Criminals prey on the gullible and vulnerable. Know the signs, first clue would be receiving an unknown call (caller id) from an out of area caller (second clue) trying to sell you some type of service (third clue). If it is a robo call, then you should know to just hang up. Better yet, know the signs and don't pick up.
Never ever! Never ever! Never ever provide personal information over the phone. Never. In all fifty states, you have that right!!! Period. Not full address, not full name, definitely not social security number and definitely not bank/credit card information.
If you need any type of life insurance, there are many reputable agencies advertised on national and local tv, newspapers, and many different community agencies. Or just ask your neighbors, coworkers or friends who they recommend.
Be smart folks, financial fraud and Identity theft can be timely and costly. Your personal information is a gold mine for criminals. Criminals always look for the gullible and vunerable. Never give out personal information over the phone!
