I too received a call rom WCD saying I got a pay day loan in 2007 and a felony warrant will be issued if I didnt pay 700.00 by 2:00 that evening. What the hell? Thay don't give you time to think do they?
Some lady from this company left me a voicemail saying her name was Jillian Winters calling from the law office of "Davis and Shorstein" about a bad check that I had written. She went on to say something about a felony affidavit being filed against. However, before that they wanted to speak with me, otherwise, they would request A WARRANT BE ISSUED AGAINST ME FOR MY ARREST!.
Whoever they are, it is complete BS as I rarely ever use/write checks. The only people I write checks to are my leasing office and I have NEVER in my life written a check that has bounced.
If they are collection agency, what they are doing should be ILLEGAL. I'm not calling them back. They can take whatever MADE UP steps they feel are necessary.
... I am now going to see what my rights are and try contacting an attorney for harassment.
It IS A SCAM!!! Good for you that you didn't fall for it!! They also called me about two weeks ago under another name of Hollander and Schwartz with a different phone number of 305-964-0972. The "supposed" attorneys name was Janice Hall and I also spoke with a "supposed" Julie Taylor. They almost got me! I ALMOST sent them $1000.00 until I got smart and decided to do some research on the internet and found out it was all a scam! I don't know how these people sleep at night. I actually got into a screaming match with one of the "supposed attorneys" there and he actually had the nerve to call ME white trash, a scum bag, a drunk, and told ME to get a real job! Can you believe that? He told ME to get a real job! All they do is sit around all day scamming innocent people like you and I, and they call that a real job?
These people have called my both of my grandmothers and my mother in regards to an online payday loan that I paid off over 5 years ago. They say they are calling from the law office of Shorstein & Krantz. Their number is 305-974-3216. I spoke to Julie Winters and Gina Hinshaw.....called the Florida Bar Association to check these people out.........FAKE & PHONY!!!!! No record of these "ATTORNEYS" on file!!!! I have contacted the Indiana Attorney General's Office to report them and in the process of filing a complaint with the Florida AG's office.
I received a call today from 305-974-3216 Cheryl Hinshaw and Ms. Winters telling the same bull. I called the AG's office in my city and they told me to beware because this sounded bogus and I called and called and they would not answer.
