My daughter recieved a call wanting information on how to contact her ex-husband about a debt that he owed. I talked with the man. After a short time into the call, this man said that the collectors would come after my daughter and take her to court for at least $8,000, even though they had not been married for almost two years when the loan went into defalt. He could not tell me when the loan was taken out and what type of vehicle it was for. This was legal, according to him, because he said that my daughter could be held accountable for anything that happened up to 2-3 years aflter the divorce. When he started lowering the amount owed from the original $9,000 owed by the ex, to 3 easy payments of $1,000 and wanted to know if there was any way that I could help her out so she would not end up in court, I had decided that this was a scam. I told him he needed to contact the ex and get any money owed out of his hide not ours and if we ended up in court, we'd take care of it then.
